LATEST DOAF DROP HITS ITS GOAL, BEAUTIFULLY.

Ducks of a Feather and GOAT team up to celebrate football’s global heritage.

The World Cup holds a unique place both in sports heritage and in the hearts of football’s global fanbase. Which makes it fitting that the DOAF x Nike Total 90 “Beautiful Game,” released the at the height of this summer’s tournament, embodies both of those distinctive qualities, and more.

While the elegant Total 90 silhouette will be well familiar to football fans, nearly everything  else about the limited edition production of 300 pairs released exclusively in conjunction with GOAT is custom.

The sophisticated woven upper features colors from of the flags of the tournament’s three host countries, while representing the many nations, players and stories that make up the fabric of football and the World Cup tournament. The aesthetic recalls traditional weaving patterns, while also referencing the pixels used in modern digital screens and displays, invoking football’s past, present and future. And while each pair presents a unified look, each is woven from random sections to create a completely unique pattern, reflecting the understanding that while football is universal, each World Cup experience is individual.

Contrasting the bright woven pattern, the rest of the upper is rendered in black suede and features branding elements commemorating the occasion of the release, including “Beautiful Game” stitched in white on the tongue, DOAF branding in black on the heel counter, and “20” “26” raised black numbering replacing the style’s traditional “90” graphic. Reflective accents and glow-in-the-dark rubber outsole elements reference the bright moments that define World Cup play, while gold-tipped laces and a metallic soccer ball hangtag suggest the trophy awaiting the tournament’s eventual champion.

Dropped on the day of the tournament’s first semifinal contest, it’s safe to say that the two events not only made for a beautiful game, but for a beautiful match.

As with all of DOAF’s efforts, proceeds from the sales went to benefit participating University of  Oregon student athletes.
