LATEST DOAF DROP FUSES TWO ICONIC CULTURES

Innovation and heritage take flight together in the DOAF x Nike Air Max 1 “Tokyo”

DOAF’s latest drop—the DOAF x Nike Air Max 1 “Tokyo”—celebrates the fusion of two iconic cultures, while honoring the groundbreaking heritage of Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary silhouette. Offered exclusively at Flight Club Tokyo, the limited-edition release of 300 individually numbered pairs showcased the fusion of Japanese aesthetics and Oregon pride.

The leather and nubuck upper’s subtle palette of grey and white references Tokyo’s philosophy of simplicity and craftsmanship and provides a neutral canvas for the shoe’s colorful storytelling elements. A vibrant multicolor Swoosh logo references the neon lights of Tokyo’s Shibuya ward and Harajuku areas, while the multicolor Duck head logo on the tongue represents the different backgrounds, experiences, and circumstances of the Ducks family worldwide. Followers of DOAF may notice this feature debuted on DOAF’s first Air Max 1 colorway in 2022, also designed by Hatfield.

Color pops of Oregon green can be found on the lace loops, outsole, and Nike Air unit, as well as on the heel branding, which features a “Go Ducks” message rendered in Japanese characters—a final touch embodying the fusion of the two cultures.

The release of the DOAF x Nike Air Max 1 “Tokyo” featured an instore preview at Flight Club Tokyo, featuring a curated collection of design drawings and Oregon PEs, as well as a meet and greet with Hatfield himself.

As with all DOAF initiatives, proceeds generated from the DOAF x Nike Air Max 1 "Tokyo" release benefited participating University of Oregon student-athletes.
